The Real Riches

Money is the common source of income for households and the common use for trade. It’s value is typically highest in the places it was meant to be used. New Zealand money is not as valuable in the USA as it is in its own country, just for example. Money feels good to have. It provides security, wealth, provisions, etc. It is something that everyone has spot for in their pocket. We all use money for different things and usually it’s for things we need. However, if we are not careful we start spending more on what we want and that can eventually lead us to being broke. Money is physical. It runs out. It disappears. Money isn’t so appealing knowing it can run out. Solomon, in 2 Chronicles 1:8-13, knew something that we tend to overlook. He did not ask God for wealth or anything that involved money. He asked for wisdom and knowledge, and God was pleased that Solomon asked for that. In return, God not only gave him what he asked for, but blessed him with wealth and honor unlike any king would ever witness. God still blesses us with wisdom and knowledge if we are willing to ask for it and seek it. He gave us His written word so that we may find the riches and wealth that come in part in being in His kingdom. Solomon started the book of Proverbs and mentioned wisdom and knowledge as the first two things. They are significant. We need them in order to understand, defend, protect, persuade, and to live. Let’s focus more on this concept of wealth and riches as we live day to day. Look for opportunities that give us a chance to be more wise.
