Introduction:
A. Is one way really as good as another? (Jn. 14:6; Hb. 10:20).
B. In the early church, disciples not only became known as “Christians” (Acts 11:26); but also as those belonging to the Way.
1. The expression occurs in the context of persecution (Acts 9:1-2; 19:23;22:4; 24:14).
2. The Way of Christ will be persecuted (2 Tim. 3:12) because of its exclusive nature.
3. How is the Way different?
I. It Is a New Way of Thinking.
A. Considers eternity and heaven and not just the here and now (Col. 3:1-4; Prov. 23:7; Ph. 4:8).
B. Different than the world’s way of thinking which is largely governed by external circumstances and human reasoning (Is. 55:8-9; Jer. 10:23; 2 Cor. 5:7).
II. It Is a New Way of Feeling.
A. The old life and the new life are as different as life and death (Eph. 2:5; Jn. 10:10; 15:11).
B. Joy is not the absence of problems, but the presence of Christ (Gal. 5:22; Acts 4:13; Ph. 1:21).
III. It Is a New Way of Working.
A. You can tell a lot about someone by observing that for which they work (Jn. 6:27).
B. Everybody works for something (2 Th. 3:10).
C. In what manner should we work? (Mt. 5:16; Gal. 6:10; 5:13).
IV. It Is a New Way of Living.
A. Christianity is a new and different way of living.
B. The word that describes the difference is “holy” (Is. 35:8; 1 Pet. 1:15-16; 2 Cor. 6:16-7:1).
Conclusion:
A. There is only one way to heaven: the way of Christ (Acts 16:17; 18:25).
B. Will you let Jesus have His way in your life? (Jn. 8:24; Lk. 13:3; Mk. 16:16).
