Introduction:

A. Love describes the nature of God (1 Jn. 4:8).

B. We must look three directions to know the love of God (Eph. 3:16-19).

I. We Must Look in the Direction of Heaven.

A. God’s love reaches to the heavens (Ps. 57:10; 103:11; 108:4).

B. How much does the Father love us? (Jn. 17:23-24).

C. Heaven’s love is the basis for our love (1 Cor. 13:13; Ps. 36:5: Jn. 15:9, 12).

II. We Must Look in the Direction of Earth.

A. The earth is full of God’s love (Ps. 119:64; Ph. 4:4).

B. How is the earth full of God’s love?

1. He provides for our physical needs (Jas. 1:17; 2 Cor. 9:10; Mt. 5:45;
Ps. 8:4).

2. He provides for our spiritual needs (2 Pet. 1:3; Mt. 7:7-11; Rm. 8:32;
Ph. 4:6; Rm. 8:28; 1 Cor. 10:13).

3. His love is shown through His disciples (Jn. 17:23).

III. We Must Look in Our Own Direction.

A. His love, a great untapped resource of spiritual strength (Ps. 63:1-5).

B. The impact of His love is multiplied when it is made personal (1 Tim. 1:14; 1 Cor. 15:10; Col. 3:4; Ph. 1:21; Gal. 2:20).

C. Where would we be without Jesus? (Eph. 2:4-5; 2 Cor. 5:14-15).
