Introduction:

A. We are “rights” oriented – marches, rallies, protests.

B. Potter/Clay analogy used throughout Scripture (Is. 64:8; Gen. 2:7; Job 33:6).

C. What are the rights of the Potter?

I. Unquestioned Cooperation

A. Foolishness of speaking back to the Potter (Rm. 9:20; Is. 29:16; 45:9)

B. The Lord’s example of unquestioned cooperation (Jn. 4:34; 6:38; Ph. 2:5-8)

C. How do we react to the Potter’s hand? (Jas. 1:19-22; Jer. 50:24; Jn. 12:48; Mt. 7:21).

II. Work as He Wishes

A. Jeremiah’s trip to the potter’s house (Jer. 18:3-6, 7-11)

B. Compare soft clay to a hard brick

C. God does not work independently of human choice (Lk. 22:42; Jer. 19:1, 10, 15).

III. Glory in His Creation

A. Physical and spiritual creation glorifies God (Ps. 19:1; Eph. 2:10; Mt. 5:16; 2 Cor. 4:7)

B. Have you ever felt proud of the work of your hands?

A. His way is best for us—but we must give Him three things:
1. Unquestioned cooperation
2. Freedom to work as He wishes
3. The right to glory in His creation
