Does God exist? Is the Bible His word? Is Jesus God’s Son? How can we know we are saved? Can we identify Jesus’ church? These are the questions that comprise the subject matter of the series of lessons presented this week by Eric Lyons (October 24-26th).

Questions are essential to the learning process. No doubt, we have all heard someone say, “There is no such thing as a dumb question?” Indeed, there is great sadness in holding on to unasked questions, especially when those questions relate to our eternal well-being.

Jesus skillfully used questions in His teaching. He could have simply presented the truth. But, questions enabled Him to draw His listeners into the discussion and help them discover the truth for themselves. In his excellent book, Jesus Christ the Master Teacher, Wayne Jackson observes: “Debate a man into submission and he may or may not stay with the truth. Skillfully lay out the evidence, let him draw his own conclusions, and likely he will retain them permanently” (119).

This is precisely what Eric Lyons will be doing as he deals with the questions listed above. We will hear the evidence and draw our own conclusions. This will help us build our own faith and provide “reason for the hope within us” (1 Pet. 3:15). Please make every effort to attend and bring someone with you.
