Introduction:

A. “There is nothing quite so certain as change itself.”

B. We must take proper advantage of present-day changes.

C. Change without compromise.

I. We Must Seek Our Anchor in an Unchanging God.

A. God does not change.
1. Not the Father (Mal. 3:6; Jas. 1:17)
2. Not the Son (Jn. 14:9; Hb. 1:3; 13:8)
3. Not the Spirit-inspired word (Mt. 24:35; 1 Pet. 1:23, 25; Jude 3)
4. The world changes (1 Jn. 2:17) but God does not.

B. What do we mean by the unchangeableness of God?
1. Unchanging in His attributes (1 Jn. 4:8; Rm. 6:23; 2 Tim. 4:8; Ex. 34:6-7; Acts 17:30-31).
2. Unchangeableness of His purpose (Lk. 19:10; 2 Pet. 3:9; Hb. 6:17)

C. There is great comfort in trusting our unchanging God (Ps. 46:1-3; 102:26-27).

D. “O Thou who changest not, abide in me!”

II. We Must Temper Our Desire for Change with a Love for the Truth.

A. There is enormous pressure to change our thinking and living (Rm. 12:2).

B. Change can be good or bad (2 Tim. 1:13; 4:3-4).

C. Sometimes the change needed is to return to the old paths (Jer. 6:16).

Conclusion:

A. God’s word equips us for a changing world (2 Tim. 2:15; 3:17).

B. Neither God nor His word will ever change (Jn. 12:48).

C. We cannot afford to gamble with eternity.
